Zaida Saiace
A pianist’s diary from Buenos Aires
Zaida Saiace may be a familiar name to some. The Argentine pianist lived in Germany for many years and has also performed regularly in other European countries. Her first recordings date back to the 1990s. At that time, she interpreted classical music in the form of a diary. “Diario de Pianista” was recorded in Argentina in 1992, “Diario de Pianista II” in 1996 in France. The album “Tango Novelle”, as the name suggests, features tangos and was recorded between 2001 and 2006 in Germany, Argentina, and Switzerland. All three albums are now available through “Danza y Movimiento”. By clicking on the album links, you’ll be taken to the respective track, and from there you can also select a platform where you can listen to or purchase the entire album.

Tango Malaga
Finns are enthusiastic tangueros. Tango is even called “Finnish national music” here in the north of Europe and Finnish tango has existed for more than 100 years. Of course, the Finns compose their own tango.
The Finns also like the south of Spain. In Malaga there is now a real Finnish colony. So it is not surprising that the first article about the album “Tango Malaga” appeared in the print magazine Suomalainen Espanjassa. This is a Finnish-language publication aimed at Finns living in the south of Spain. There must be quite a few of them if they have their own newspaper …
So – Tango Malaga is Finnish tango and a little bit more, sung by opera tenor Harri Kaitila and produced in warm Spanish Malaga.
Life should not be taken for granted“, realized songwriter and producer Tapani Puranen in spring 2022. He had just begun to compose music for singer Harri Kaitila and suddenly got a cancer diagnose in Málaga, leading to an urgent operation and medical treatments. That changed the mood for the rest of the work. What if this was his last project?
The result is a collection of songs that reveal Tapanis experience with profound honesty.

"Tango Nueve" - new Tango-CD from Italian orchestra "Hyperion Ensemble"
The CD Tango 9 is the n.9 in the Tango production of the Hyperion ensemble. The project of this new release is strictly following the two previous CDs, Epoca de oro (2011) and Remembranzas (2014) wishing to bring to a new life the music of the historical orchestras of the 40s and 50s; it contains a lot of great hits in the classical Tango repertoire, as Los Mareados, Cachirulo, Esta noche de luna, famous milongas as La Punalada and Mano brava, refined valses as Temo, etc.
The recording has been done 50% live and 50% in studio, with the two bandoneonists Josè Luis Betancor and Antonio Ippolito. Actually this CD is an adequate photo of the Hyperion ensemble in this moment of its life and activity, developing itself mainly in Festivals or in Shows with dancers, moving hundreds of people with the rhythm of the music by D’Arienzo, Pugliese, Biagi etc. reinterpretated with a modern concept of sound and orchestration. The CD contains also a new interpretation of the milonga Morena by Esteban Morgado and of the foxtrot Por las calles de Estambul, and a special arrangement of the Modugno’s song Le donne belle, featuring a Trio of female voices: Creartis Trio.

Hyperion Ensemble: Remembranzas
The Hyperion Ensemble is based in the Italian La Spezia and it presents its 8th tango production with “Remembranzas”. The ensemble from wild Liguria has gained a leading position within the European tango scene and it ranks among the most important current tango orchestras worldwide.
The project of this new release is strictly following the previous one, “Epoca de oro” (2011), wishing to bring to new life the music of the historical orchestras of the 40s and 50s; this is the meaning of the title “Remembranzas”, which is also one of the best songs of the CD. (The Spanish term “Remembranza” is linked closely to the Argentinian tango and it signifies something like a “memory of something that is past”. Don’t be surprised – some Spanish dictionaries don’t even list this word…)
