Hyperion Ensemble: Remembranzas
The Hyperion Ensemble is based in the Italian La Spezia and it presents its 8th tango production with “Remembranzas”. The ensemble from wild Liguria has gained a leading position within the European tango scene and it ranks among the most important current tango orchestras worldwide.
The project of this new release is strictly following the previous one, “Epoca de oro” (2011), wishing to bring to new life the music of the historical orchestras of the 40s and 50s; this is the meaning of the title “Remembranzas”, which is also one of the best songs of the CD. (The Spanish term “Remembranza” is linked closely to the Argentinian tango and it signifies something like a “memory of something that is past”. Don’t be surprised – some Spanish dictionaries don’t even list this word…)

New CD by "Quinteto Angel"

This is not only the fifth and most current album – it is also a cross-section of the band’s history of 13 years and contains not only a multitude of new arrangements but also some previously unreleased favourite titles.
There are only few bands that have dealt with Argentinian tango as continuously and intensively with consistent vigour, energy and enthusiasm for the music.
Again, the Berlin based Argentinian singer and composer Sergio Gobi is guest musician on “5 al Tango”.
Line up:
Christian Gerber – Bandoneón
Bernhard von der Gabelentz – Violin
Samuel Lutzker – Violoncello
Rodolpho Paccapelo – Double Bass
Frank Schulte – Piano

Orquesta Típica Misteriosa Buenos Aires - Tango De Salón - Great Debut CD
3 bandoneons, 3 violins, a contrabass, a piano and 2 singers: This young orchestra of ten musicians have set their sights on following the lead of Carlos di Sarli, that is to play pieces melodically, in a steady and therefore danceable rhythm and with a romantic touch. And it is exactly that what they have achieved with this CD!
Fresh interpretations of popular Tangos like “9 de Julio” in a slower version, which provides room for a playful piano tune. I listen eagerly to the fresh tunes of “En esta Tarde Gris”, “Loca”, “Recuerdo” and “Nostalgias”.

Orquesta Caminito -Tango from Italy
Our download section keeps growing…
One of the latest gems is a CD of a promising band from Italy: the Orquesta Caminito. The title of their album focuses on the essential: “Tango”.
I’m not gonna conceal the fact that this album really amazed me – quite like “7” by Sexteto Milonguero!
Just looking at the selection of songs already tells you about the impressive versatility of this Orquesta
From solemn Tangos (La melodia de nuestro Adios, Ensueños, Para Osmar Maderna) to highly dramatic songs (El Recodo, Tanguera, El Huracan, A Evaristo Carriego) to quite merry and cheerful music (La Colegiala, Morena, Mairposa)… and even the deeply melancholic “Oblivión”. Moreover the names of these tunes make clear that the five musicians can play everything from “Golden Era” to “Nuevo”. Whether Canaro, D’Arienzo, or Piazzolla, die stylistic nuances are masterfully performed!
