A short while ago, we presented the CD “Para mi Esposa” by Luis Stazo (former bandoneón player of Sexteto Mayor). We then became aware of another Tango ensemble in which Luis Stazo also
participates, the Ensemble Hyperion, we do not want to withhold from our readers.

Since its conception in 1992, the Hyperion Ensemble has developed a wide repertory of tango music and has performed at festivals, theaters, tango parties, and concert halls all over Europe,

Everybody dancing Tango regularly, at least in Europe, will have met the Sexteto Andorinha. They are a popular live orchestra and they have already performed “from Moskau to Madrid, from Uppsala to Zürich”. In all these places, the musicians have shown their devotion to Tango. The latest production “De Puro Curda” presents 16 titles, written for example by Astor Piazzolla, Francisco Canaro and Aníbal Troilo. Yet, there are also three compositions by Peter Reil (Bandoneón) seamlessly fitting in. A beautiful album (also visually), which will not only please the dancers.

This new release is a live recording from 2006. It is a wonderful mix of Tango (for example “Cambalache”), Tango Milonga (for example “Taquito Militar”) and Tango Vals (for example “Romance de Barrio”), but there is also room for Tango Nuevo with “Oblivion” and “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla. This mixture makes the CD very entertaining for dancers and listeners. The ensemble “Tango Fuego” uses the instrumentation bandoneon, violin, piano and contrabass. The singer is Laura d’Onofrio.
